German art students ask Internet to decide if innocent lamb lives or dies
Urgh.
http://www.die-guillotine.com/
Go on the website and vote nein.
I’m shocked at how equal the votes are.

Guys.
The “yes” voters are actually winning.
This should have way more notes than this.

WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?!
I like to think I have an appreciation for art, but I stop appreciating when someone or something dies as a form of art.  This is disturbing.

I don’t have the eloquence to express my rage and disgust at this.  Anyone who would even think of supporting this does not exist to me.  This is completely heinous and the most sorry excuse for “art” or a school project.  It’s nothing but a thinly veiled twisted desire for a spectacle of pain and blood with these students using the pathetic defense of laying the blame for their own sick fetishisms on the ‘internet’.   It’s horrendous and cowardly.  If they truly believed in their “art” they’d put their own necks on the line, but in this case they’re not even taking responsibility for their actions.  I’ve rarely seen such a load of utter bullshit. It proves nothing and provides the world with nothing except to show that humans, on a whole, likely haven’t progressed very far forward from the blood thirsty desire for spectacle of the Roman Coliseum.  And that certainly isn’t news.
For anyone excusing this as being just like the meat industry, I’m not going to go into my distaste for factory farms, but in regards to the parts of the industry that DO operate in as close to a humane fashion as possible, this is NOTHING like that.  Once you make something into a form of entertainment (there’s nothing else this can be, seeing as even the method of murder, the guillotine, was designed for spectacle ) it no longer is comparable. Anyone too simpleminded to see the obvious difference is not worthy arguing with.

#signal boost #animals #fucking bunch of pretentious douchebags and idiots #’hm we want to get noticed but we don’t want to do any work hm OH I KNOW’ #’LET’S KILL AN ANIMAL IT WILL SHOW HOW DEEP AND ARTSY WE ARE’ #’yes perfect we are original and smart and this has obviously never been done before’ #’no of course it’s not just a pathetic cry for attention pff naahh’ #fucking assholes

and the “yes” is still winning by 4000 VOTES. Jesus. And it’s not like they’re making a point that hasn’t been made before.

I am so disgusted to see that yes is actually winning
please go and vote no here http://www.die-guillotine.com/

Reblogging more than once. This gave me actual tears.

tumblr: the second or third time this exact stunt has been pulled and still fallin for it.
cans are you honestly fallin for this one i thought you at least wouldn’t leap headlong into some tumblrati’s emotive post without at least a hint of skepticism
guys, don’t just jump onto the tumblr bawww-bandwagon without 1. doin your research first n 2. recallin the fact that this exact stunt has been done at least twice before (even by germans, so this isn’t even the first german group to try it. a lot of these reblogs also smack of ‘yes, i’d believe anything of those foul germans!’, but that’s beside the point.)
just, jesus christ. the amount of conclusions tumblr users are capable of jumpin to in a single giant leap has to be a truly prodigious number, multiplied by the combined the collective negative quotient of common sense, supported by endless reblog chains of groupthink
the collective kneejerk reaction here is amazing to watch. i really shouldn’t be stunned that tumblr is even easier to fool than the daily fuckin mail, but it finds new ways to impress me with gullibility every few weeks. this is exactly the kind of publicity-garnerin response intended, only without anyone actually lookin at it for long enough to grasp the point – everyone’s just goin ‘oh no how terrible! reblog reblog reblog’ and then carryin on postin about homestuck headcanons or whatever
now excuse me for bringin a little skepticism to the table n ruinin everyone’s super fun outrage-party, but i gotta lay it out for you all
the project is a stunt entitled “An Experiment Representing The Current Conditions Surrounding Democracy”. a basic google search brings this up. the guillotine is in intentionally crude technicolour, intended to reduce to absurdity the societal commodification of violence.
this elaborate setup is the basis of the poll, the meat of the issue. the poll is an experiment in seein just how shitty people will be, it’s designed to either praise or shame its voters by its result. the entire show here is in the vote. the lamb is not and never has been in any danger of an untimely death and basic common sense (‘gee would this really be legal in germany? no i believe everything i hear about germans i hear they’re all cannibal nazis! fuck germany i hate those krauts!’ or even just ‘wait, artsy types pull publicity stunt tricks all the time, why would they be serious this time?’) dictates that this is the case. basic common sense can then be followed by a google search. it’s really not the most complex of procedures.
nobody’s thinkin ‘wait, this is a little too ridiculous a story to swallow in one go. it seems intentionally over the top! maybe this is another one of those elaborate internet hoaxes?’ no, it’s clearly real because look they made a video and they’re GERMAN and everything!
causin the death of an animal without reasonable cause is a federal offence in germany, punishable by several years of jail. this is a project that was greenlit by a major german university, who are clearly in on it, and have stated as much already in response to the already wild media circus over it. german universities are not some kind of wild west land where card games are the only law.
i’m not here to shame everyone who’s had a lapse in common sense n managed to fall for an incredibly obvious (and already been-done) ploy – not all of us think to research things rather than takin the word of an outraged tumblr user as gospel, n not all of us care enough to do so. it just really has to be said, n really has to be put out there, that this is not a thing that is actually happening.
there was no point in the planning of this project at which anyone thought killin things with the guillotine was a great idea. in fact, not killin things with the guillotine was the entire point. the walls of text of how OUTRAGED we all are about this DISGUSTING thing these FILTHY GERMANS are doin would be better put to use discussin the point of the stunt: is democracy really inherently flawless when a lot of people will honestly vote to decapitate an animal for entertainment?
guys, it’d be nice if you reblogged this one so people get saved from feelin quite as silly when they make kneejerk reblogs of the original post.
EDIT:
well i guess since statin the facts is ‘mean and cruel’
as i said i’m not meanin to come off as shamin everyone whose critical thinkin skills failed them temporarily n they dropped the ball on this
but gullibility in the face of the blindinly obvious just doesn’t have an excuse
all my vitriol here is directed at the more wilfully ignorant, and at the fruitcakes who are usin this as a platform to exercise some kind of crazy hatred of a ‘depraved’ germany that exists only in their mind. anyone who actually gives a shit about the sheep should have looked at the source, because that is everyone’s first responsibility when approachin any issue at all - to get informed.

when the earth is shaken with her final convulsion
and yields up her burdens
and man cries out, “what ails her?”
that day will she declare her tidings
for that your lord will have given her inspiration.
that day mankind shall issue forth, in scattered groups, that they may be shown their deeds
and whosoever does an atom’s weight of good shall see it,
and whosoever does an atom’s weight of evil shall see it.

What about people who only do one proton’s weight of good?

nobody gives a shit about them

you gotta put in some effort knock up enough subatomic particles to at least equal the smallest of atomic masses

when the earth is shaken with her final convulsion
and yields up her burdens
and man cries out, “what ails her?”
that day will she declare her tidings
for that your lord will have given her inspiration.

glubbingawesome:

I’m trying to think of shows and movies, animated or not, to put on my tablet for my trip in a couple of weeks.

So far I’m at:

  • My Neighbour Totoro
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service
  • Princess Mononoke (I love this movie so how could I not?)
  • IT Crowd

I have a 5/5 and a half hour flight to California and then on the way back I have a stop over so if I have a lot to watch, that’ll be great. I already have the books I hope to read. If anyone has any suggestions, please leave them!

??????

oh wait the reply box is way too short

anyway yes the thick of it

but srsly you’re p much never gonna get through all your books n watchables in a 5.5 hour flight even with lengthy stopover times it’s been way too easy for me to fill 14 hours of flight time + cumulative stopover with shit to watch

Pluto is a planet because there is a Sailor Scout for it.

All other arguments are invalid.

clearly the real issue here

is that there should have been a sailor ceres

i can safely vouch for this 100%

Read bottom-to-top, ignoring that Karkat typo.
This is a message to YOU, Homestuck fandom! There were a bunch of cosplayers at last year’s TCAF, and the fandom is bigger since then. Please behave. TCAF is not a convention.
More tweets at the official TCAF twitter account.

Okay, this is mostly directed to Toronto and Ontario!stuck groups. I know there has been debate about it last year, whether to cosplay or not, even just casual. We can safely say that this is our sign. Wearing shirts is fine, because from what I understand they will be sold at TCAF as well. But limit it to just that. Our groups are massive now, likely 400+ combined. We have to behave.  There are a lot of pretty awesome people there, and we really don’t want to act like a bunch of rowdy animals.I know we are all excited to meet Hussie, Jit, and others, but really guys. Use your brain, don’t be dumb. Be respectful, and mindful of others.
As an Admin of Ontario!stuck I want to make sure that we all try our best to represent the good side of our fandom. Thank you for your time! Also, any one in the groups, please reblog this to get the word around!

tbh i wasn’t really aware people wearin silly outfits was really all that disruptive to everyone at a convention goin about their business (ie, wankin over comic books)
but then i realised half the kind of people who cosplay are also the kind that shrieks earsplittinly every few seconds n crashtackles people they don’t know n calls it a ‘glomp’
not exactly what you’d call an expert in the field but it seems to me those people are gonna be just as irritatin whether they’re wearin an enormous hat or not
so i dunno i guess i don’t really get the idea esp since ‘literary festivals’ like what tcaf’s apparently now claimin to be (looks an awful lot more like a regular old fashioned nerdfest to me) often get a lot of costumes either way so *???*
that said
askin kids attendin a comics convention to not be loud n ridiculous?
pffhahaha good luck
